Global Challenges meet Midwestern Values.

Strong work ethic, modest integrity, and the desire to help others unite to tackle some of our planet’s most pressing issues.

How it Began.

When co-founders Jake Hamann & Jess Brown reconnected in 2018 at a coworking space in Peoria, Illinois, it quickly became apparent that their experiences, expertise, and passion for not only great design but a desire to make an impact locally and globally truly needed a collective outlet.

After struggling to figure out the right mix, ingenuity and a little bit of luck led to the idea of creating the first 100% sustainable line of desk accessories targeted at the digital nomad.

All the while, Peoria’s history of "making" offered a familiar backdrop for launching a unique but relatable brand to the innovative spirit that has transcended the community for decades.

Enter, Midwest Made.

Fast forward to March 2020 and the unexpected disruption that was COVID-19. With a sudden shift to remote work and stay-at-home initiatives, the need for Midwest Made accessories became even more apparent and urgent.

Now, as workers rediscover their home offices or create make-shift spaces for their work day, we’re crafting something that is beautifully designed, yet uncompromising in its sustainability and elegance.

Our commitment: A 100% plastic-free and animal-free line of premium leather accessories that provides a sustainable solution for whatever fuels your passion and your profession.

Where it Began.

The premise of Midwest Made is as much a story about a first-of-its-kind product collection as it is about the reinvention of a much forgotten Midwestern city that has long been known as a litmus test for new ideas and innovation.

Innovation isn't a concept new to Peoria. Once known as the “Whiskey Capital of the World", our community has had its share of notable innovations and innovators. A few of those include:

  • Birthplace of the Duryea automobile

  • Epicenter for the mass production of penicillin in the 1940s

  • Birthplace of entertainment legends Richard Pryor & Dan Fogelberg

  • Former HQ and current global parts distribution center for Caterpillar

And now, with companies like BumpBoxes, Enduvo and Natural Fiber Welding® leading the way, Peoria is once again re-establishing itself as the Innovation Capital of the Midwest.

Making It Happen.

After inking a licensee agreement with Natural Fiber Welding® to utilize their revolutionary platform Mirum™, the launch of our premium desk accessories is just the first step in a series of products for work, travel, and personal use aimed to achieve our vision of sustainable design with no compromise.

So, perhaps the creation of Midwest Made isn't luck at all?

With the recent growth in remote working, the ever increasing demand for sustainably-minded products, our founder's extensive experience in the creative and design industry, and Peoria's history of innovation, Midwest Made seems to be an opportunity destined to "Play in Peoria."
